Travel PACU Registered Nurse (RN)

Bring your post-anesthesia nursing experience to a 13-week PACU assignment in Wheeling, West Virginia. Support patients across inpatient and outpatient recovery settings, a surgery center, and an anesthesia clinic while working with a collaborative perioperative team.

• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, typically 12 hours each

• Scheduled Hours: 36 hours per week

• Positions Available: 2

• Orientation: 2 to 3 unit-specific shifts

• Floating: Required across inpatient PACU, outpatient PACU, surgery center, and anesthesia clinic

• Call Requirements:

  • 2 additional overnight call shifts per month, 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM

  • 1 weekend 24-hour call shift per month, 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM

  • Participation in the holiday call rotation

Weekly Compensation

• Gross Weekly Pay: $2,311

• Taxable Weekly Pay: $1,044

• Non-Taxable Weekly Stipend: $1,267

Advertised compensation is based on 36 scheduled hours per week.

Experience & Requirements

Required

• Registered Nurse (RN) qualification and applicable licensure.

• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications for inpatient and outpatient PACU and surgery center assignments.

• BLS certification for assignments in the anesthesia clinic.

• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips.

• Flexibility to work across assigned recovery areas and remain until cases are completed.

• Ability to participate in required overnight, weekend, and holiday call rotations.

Additional Submission Requirements

• Candidates must meet the 50-mile radius restriction; local candidates within the restricted radius are not accepted.

• A copy of an unexpired driver's license must accompany the submission.

• Any licensing hits must be disclosed at the time of submission.

Clinical Environment

The assignment includes several perioperative care areas:

• Inpatient PACU: 7 recovery bays

• Outpatient PACU: 15 recovery bays

• Surgery Center: 14 recovery bays

• Anesthesia Clinic: 6 rooms

Nurses recover a broad range of cases, including general, neurological, thoracic, interventional, and other procedures. Open-heart cases go directly to the ICU. PACU nurses may also recover ICU patients.

Additional clinical details:

• Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery care across the assigned areas.

• Each area has its own charge nurse, who also takes patient assignments.

• Unit aides support the recovery areas and may assist with reception duties.

• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7.

• Ventilator management is handled by respiratory therapy.

• Scrubs are provided in the PACU and surgery center areas. Anesthesia clinic staff must provide their own navy blue scrubs.

• Scheduling may vary based on departmental needs, and flexibility with start times and case completion is expected.
