Travel Neuro ICU RN Opportunity in Peoria, Illinois

Protouch Staffing is seeking an experienced Neuro ICU Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract in Peoria, Illinois. Bring your critical care expertise to a specialized 18-bed Neuro ICU caring for patients with complex neurological conditions, including acute strokes and post-craniectomy needs.

Assignment Highlights

• Contract Length: 13 weeks

• Start Date: November 30, 2026

• Shift: Nights

• Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week

• Weekly Hours: 36

• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

• Holiday Requirement: Rotating every other holiday

• Floating: Travelers float first and may be assigned to other hospital units, including intermediate and general care floors

• Orientation: Facility orientation is approximately 20 hours, consisting of one 8-hour shift and one 12-hour shift

Weekly Compensation

• Gross Weekly Compensation: $2,482

• Taxable Weekly Wages: $1,215

• Potential Non-Taxable Weekly Stipends: $1,267

Compensation is based on the scheduled 36-hour workweek and individual stipend eligibility.

Experience & Requirements

Required

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated

• Current BLS and ACLS certifications

• NIH Stroke Scale certification

• Experience with:

  • Ventriculostomies

  • Ventilators

  • Arterial and central lines

  • tPA administration

  • Acute stroke management

  • Post-craniectomy care

• Ability to titrate ICU medications and manage complex drips according to physician orders

• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms

Additional Submission Requirements

• Middle initial

• Last four digits of Social Security number

• Requested time off

• Confirmation that the clinician understands the facility is a drug-free campus and a negative all-panel drug screen is required

Clinical Environment

The Neuro ICU features:

• 18-bed specialized critical care unit

• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2

• Patients with ventriculostomies, strokes with or without tPA, and post-craniectomy needs

• Titration of physician-ordered ICU drips

• Philips monitoring equipment, with nurses responsible for reading and interpreting strips

• Telemetry technician coverage every shift

• Respiratory therapy support for ventilator and other respiratory equipment

• Patient care technician coverage

• Charge nurse support and a house supervisor available 24/7

Travelers may float to intermediate care, with a 1:3 ratio, or general floors, with a 1:4 ratio, as needed.
