About the role

We're looking for a travel RN to join a skilled nursing and long term care floor in Wheeling, WV. The unit has a mix of long term residents and short stay residents who are rebuilding strength to return home. Each unit has 30 private-room residents (60 on the floor), and there is always an RN in the building.

Facility type: SNF/LTC, mix of long term and skilled residents
Census: 30 residents per unit, 60 per floor, all private rooms
Ratios: RN/LPN 1:15, CNA 1:10
EMR: PointClickCare
Common diagnoses: Sepsis, femur fracture, NSTEMI, CKF, CHF, UTI, and inability to care for self
Telemetry and respiratory: No tele monitors and no on-site RT

Responsibilities

Provide direct care to long term and skilled residents, including medication administration and wound care
Manage IVs, PICC lines, midlines, mediports and central lines
Administer IV antibiotics, blood and IV fluids
Care for foley/catheters, PEG tube feedings, ostomies and trach care (shared with LPNs)
Chart accurately in PointClickCare
Work with an on-site interdisciplinary team: PT, OT, ST, social services, case management, dietary, pharmacy and medical records
Call physicians as needed (available 24/7)

Requirements

Active RN license (WV or compact)
Long term care or skilled nursing experience preferred

Schedule and expectations

12-hour day shifts, 6:45a-7:15p
Every other weekend required
No self-scheduling and no guaranteed block schedule. Schedules follow facility needs.
No on-call or standby
No holiday requirement
Floating: travelers may float as needed, and travelers float before core staff
Orientation: 2 shifts
Dress code: navy blue scrubs
