Travel Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) | Day Shift

Assignment Highlights

• Location: Parkersburg, WV

• Start Date: November 2, 2026

• Contract Length: 13 weeks

• Shift: Days, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM

• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours per shift

• Scheduled Hours: 36 hours per week

• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

• Holiday Requirement: As needed

• Floating: Inpatient units based on competency, including Med/Surg, Stepdown, and ICU

• Charting System: EPIC

• Orientation: Approximately 3 to 4 unit-specific shifts

• Scrub Color: Royal blue

• Call: No call requirement; standby may be required if census is low

Weekly Compensation

• Gross Weekly Pay: $2,497.12

• Taxable Weekly Wages: $1,230.12

• Potential Non-Taxable Weekly Stipends: $1,267.00

Stipend eligibility depends on individual circumstances and applicable tax regulations. Actual compensation may vary based on hours worked, residency, and assignment terms.

Experience & Requirements

Required

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience

• Medical-Surgical nursing background

• Current BLS certification

• Current ACLS certification

• Ability to titrate IV drips in step-down settings

• Driver's license showing the candidate's current permanent address must be included with submission

Preferred

• Previous Stepdown experience

• Telemetry experience

• Experience caring for cardiac, medical, surgical, orthopedic, or neurological patients

A BSN is not required.

Clinical Environment

This float assignment supports multiple inpatient care settings, with patient assignments determined by competency and staffing needs.

Patient populations may include:

• Cardiac patients

• Medical and surgical patients

• Orthopedic and neurological patients

Clinical responsibilities and support include:

• Titrating step-down medications, including heparin, Cardizem, nitroglycerin, Cardene, insulin, dobutamine, dopamine, esmolol, lidocaine, and other specialty infusions

• Telemetry monitoring, with monitor technicians available

• CPAP and BiPAP support across units; ventilators in ICU

• Potential care for chronic tracheostomy patients requiring ventilator support in Stepdown

• Patient assignments coordinated through the staffing office

• Day-shift charge nurse coverage Monday through Friday and a house supervisor available 24/7

• Patient care technician and nursing aide support

Ratios vary by unit. Typical reported ratios are 1:4 to 1:5 in Stepdown, 1:6 in Med/Surg, and 1:2 to 1:3 in ICU.
